Choosing a cam that will work for you?
Performance Street, Touring or
just a little more mid range power.

Paul as chosen the Andrews EV-27.
For bolt-in power with a torque band from 2000 to 5500 RPM.
No head modifications with stock heads are required,
but you should always check your valve to piston clearance.


We removed the seat ,gas ,tank, top motor mount ,  carb & manifold.
We have chosen to replace some top end gaskets as well . Otherwise you
would not need to do these steps.Most shop would want to cut the
pushrods so as to make it easier  without pulling the heads.And replace them
with adjustable pushrods . But since we are replacing the top end gaskets and
 pulling the heads anyway .

We will change the main jet to a 175 or 180 .
Depending on the need after we run a couple of miles to see how it responds.
and check the plugs .


We removed the Heads,Pushrods,Tappet Roller Blocks,Cam Cover
and stock Cam . Now were going to replace the cam bearing using
Jims Tool Cam Bearing remover,and reinstalled new cam bearing.

Tappet roller bearing clearances
and inner tappet housing clearances
Check your manual for proper clearance's  in these area's.



Cam end play or side to side clearance's is very important
Cam Shims come in .005 increments .
 Cam shims             Thrust washer

Even if you don't do these yourself .
We hope to gave you some idea of what involved in changing a cam .
